Are You Ready?

Do you know that adopting is a LIFELONG commitment? With proper care, most dogs can live 12 to 15 years and most cats can live 15 to 20 years, so it is critical that you consider what is likely to be happening in your own life over the next 15 to 20 years before you adopt a pet.

Applicants must:

  • Be at least 21 years of age and currently employed.

  • On the application, check the box to accept the liability release which indicates that you fully understand the risk of visiting and interacting with a foster home or other agreed meeting location. You will be agreeing that you and others accompanying you, WILL NOT hold Canine Cupids, its volunteers, affiliates, trainers, or veterinarians and staff liable, should injury or injuries occur, personal property is damaged, or any other health situation arise as a result of a visit to the foster home or meeting location.

Adoption Process:

  • Fill out an application Complete an Adoption Application. Answering all questions fully and honestly will help us find the right Cupid match for you!

  • Background, vet, and living check One of our adoption counselors will review your information, check your references, and contact your landlord (if you rent). We will reply as soon as possible, most often within 3 to 5 days. Please keep in mind that we are a 100% volunteer based organization and we try to respond as quickly as we can.

  • Meet and greet - If approved, you will be put in contact with the foster parent who will contact you to schedule a "first date".  We will select a time when the entire family, including current pets, can visit.

  • Home visit Often times the home visit and slumber party can happen at the same time.

  • Slumber party - Prior to adoption, we highly suggest our slumber party which allows the foster home and adopter to ensure it is a good fit for everyone.

  • Adoption agreement & happy tails - If the slumber party goes well we can sign the paperwork and take the happy tails photo

PLEASE NOTE: An approved application means that your have passed the initial screening process and may proceed to the following steps, which may include being contacted by the foster home. It is not a guarantee of adoption. The animal you are interested in may have more than one application and may have already found his/ her forever home before you are able to meet.
